After storms

As winter leaves

I remember our

Moonlit walk

Through snow

In ice storm

Sharp cold

Winter night

We would

Embrace the wind

Snowpants

& all

Convincing ourselves

To do an errand

Yet really wanting for

The after of storms

Moon high full

Hopes too

The mystical

City sparkling

In glow

Under haze & stars Cushion

Of soft snow

Gripping our

Steps with

Crisp sounds

Making our way

Around

The inclement

Aspect lost

On us

In our moonlit

Walk Being now

With […]

After storms

Cat

The following story was written for Bulbul’s Bubble #TWT Twenty Words Tuesday. Thank you to Bulbul for hosting this fun writing exchange & choosing my suggestion ‘cat‘ for this week’s prompt! Please also take some time to read Bulbul’s wonderful interpretation of the prompt, as well as the stories of prompt participants.

Little creature. You’ve been such a friend. Grey, pink, orange. Sharp and soft. Protector, familiar, judge. You’ve taught me lots.

Coincidence 2

1
Coinciding
Colliding
Timing
Arriving
To us

We coincide
For a second
In the universe

Of space
Of time

Surviving in us
Desire

2
We wrote songs
For eachother
& jokes
We wrote jokes

Not many
But enough
Of everything
For a moment

3
For several weeks
I sheltered my fears
In love you maybe
Never believed
Was there

4
I told you the stories
Would be all that would
Be borne of it

& even though you
Took away the stories
Leaving gaps
Continuity
Run errors
The software
Made my stories
Possible

Out of everything lost
Somehow art was
Of us grown
& flourished

5
I woke up
For you
& then I slept
For you too

Too many hours
Of despair
In their lair
Waiting to repair

6
Maybe you didn’t realize
Your own power
& I overestimated mine
While I watched you
Ignore the difference

Such oversight breaks you
Blinds you
Photophobia
Burning against
Sunshine

7
Documents of corruption
Plenty of interruption
Divine intervention
Can’t fix every problem

The pink & lilac dusk

The pink & lilac
Dusk brings
Me to
You
On
Other
Evenings

Our activities

The games

We’d play

Maybe we
Didn’t take it
Seriously
Enough
Or maybe
We took
It all
Too
Seriously

Hospital visits
By magic
We survived
Many things

9 lives
9 stray cats
To keep
Alive
Only one
Comes
Inside

On the balcony
The squirrels
Hide
Peanuts
They find
& the cats
Watch
Them
Curiously
&
Admiringly
As neighbours
On 2nd
& 3rd floors
Giggle & laugh
From inside

These moments

I remember

Through

Many

As some of the coziest

Among the ones

Which are cherished

A scent in the rain

A scent in the rain
How you miss her again
Season of losses
Season of refrains

You miss yourself
The most
On some
Of these days

Yet here you are
That’s a
Very good thing

From yonder
Sent in the rain
Much to regain

Junk mail

She reads

The junk mail

& the flyers

For coupons

Practical

She faithfully

Tells you

What’s on sale

She likes to

Look at

The clothes

& know

The prices

Of appliances

You’d think this

Would bore you

But you

So Love

Love her

Nothing she

Ever could

When she tells

You of the

The price

Of a new

Flat-top stove

In February

You even tell

People

Lovingly:

She reads

The junk

Mail &

I so love

Her

Computers

Love

Records

One person’s junk

Another person’s

Fuel

Their treasure

Their pleasure

Manufacturing hope

Manufacturing hope is my exactly 20-word story for the 20 Words Tuesday prompt: hope
Hosted by Bulbul’s Bubble

She was the stories she told. Manufacturing hope. Playing other characters with hints of herself. Composites. Driving the town over.

Of function

Of tension

Of before

No the

Ones

We conjure

When

We are spent

Spent on

Descent

From events

Not meant

For unscathed

Temptation

Whereabouts

Of utter

Redirection

Negotiation

Of concern

To return

To leave

To relearn
