Tick
Tock
O’clock
Going
Going

Gone

In a line
& not
&
Pi

Aligned
My spine
Never
Kind of
Sometimes

For all the
Things
We said
We did
I’d like
You to
Know
Your
Stories
From then
Were
The best
You had
You made

I
I think
I think you
I think you know
I think you know that

You do
You do
You do

It always hurts
More when
People know
Better
You know?

Synthetic
Reveries

My scabulous body

Because I made it
You see

Whatever were you thinking when you thought you knew, you knew me?

I waited underneath the weeping willow tree with a doll, a marble, & a penny; hoping one day it would be different. High sun refracting off my blue-black hair.

Hello
Hi
Peppermint
Goodbye

Tears fall like stars
From my eyes

Rain sings
Percussive
On wings

I wonder how
I learned to
Write these
Scripts

& how you
Thought
No one
Would notice
When my
Words were
Amiss

They did though
They did

I know you never loved me
Because you
Underestimated
Me like
He did

I’m glad we have
The pithy wisdom
Of the internet

It really helped me
To get over it

I looked at more
Art than I can count
Now

I drew a bit

Zenosyne weeks
& zenosyne weekends

You robbed me of holidays
& little weekday blisses

I understand now
How it is
How it is
How love’s
All sewn into
The fabric
Of wishes

Authour’s note: a poem for day 27 of a month of poetry 2021.

From day 27 of glopowrimo: “In today’s (optional) prompt, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem inspired by an entry from the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows. The entries are very vivid – maybe too vivid! But perhaps one of the sorrows will strike a chord with you, or even get you thinking about defining an in-between, minor, haunting feeling that you have, and that does not yet have a name.”

Please go read the poems  through the days on the glopowrimo site. There are lots of great poets & work. & please sign up for disqus (go here: https://disqus.com/ or you’ll see icons above each day’s comments) & upvote the poems you like. It’s a great way to support poetry month participants & to let us know what’s working with our poems as well as our responses to the prompts. 💜🎶🖋🌸🌷💌

INCIDENTAL COMICS: Day Jobs of the Poets

http://www.incidentalcomics.com/2013/04/day-jobs-of-poets.html?m=1

I don’t tend to do shares much on here. But I enjoy this poetic comic strip & I am fascinated by poets’ other jobs & how they inform their writings.

I didn’t yet do a post-mortem about glopowrimo. It was fun. I wrote a lot. I’m feeling excited about writing still even though I needed some time.

I will be pacing myself differently on here now. I really wanted to make this page go & it is. Thanks all. 🖊💜🌷🎵

The world outside my window

When everything
Went away
There was this window
The view
This balcony of dreams

I fed myself on starry nights
Drinking in the moonlit skies

Sunset designs
From colour
Palettes of
Iridescent clouds

Mythical drawings
Of imagined sky worlds

Over the treetops
Birch, spruce & willow
The whooshing
Sounds of poplars
Singing in ocean-like
Songs across the river
Kaniatarowanenneh

This little piece
Of skyview
Outside high window
Over balcony
Magical borough
Of the most
Amazing people

Cars & stars
Lovely
Parking lot
Music parties
Backyard fires

Even a crescent
Moon night here
Is a mystical sight

The planets
Messengers
Of season’s
Happenings
Always & forever
Until long before
& from long after

Replete with sparkling
& colourful companions
The prophetic winds
The universe of things

This window onto
A little piece of the city
When all was lost
It has held me

In its secrets
In its mesmerizing
Minutes

A haunting

Parsing meaning
From unreal
Concepts
The methodical rotations
Of gravity worn bodies

Evanescent
& ascetic ghosts
Consume
The air
Around you

Spirits
Pleasantly drunk
On aether with much
To tell

Whispering anecdotes
Translated aphorisms
Coded in winds
Reading rooms

Walls cannot contain
Their hungry forms
Weathered by the friction
Of passing storms

Howls mixing
With calls from
Wind & thunderous
Intentions

You disrespect lands
& peoples
& then dismiss the
Hauntings of hungry
Phantoms

Most were not made
To repeat in sync
With atrocities

From subtle airs
The ghosts remind us
Of pasts & futures
The multiverse of existences
A haunting of meanings

Of quietude: a conciousness stream

It’s been quiet for you lately

Some construction sounds

Here & there

Always the birds

Mostly it’s welcome peace

Of mind & body

The threats

The shouting

Through hallways

Stopped

Still there can be disquiet

Internal & external

Rustlings

As new leaves come in

As blossoms send memos

Of arrival

You remember trajectories

Impacts & outcomes

You work in

Stillness set in chaos

Until you can’t

Dreams

All kinds

Of dreams

This […]

Wonderlust

In your wonderlust
Did you ever
Wonder about
The reasons
Why we are all
So small & so big?

& in that existence
How it affects
The matter of things?

Did you ever wonder
Why we feel?
Why we are made
Up of parts
Small & infinitely
Connected?

Did you ever wonder
Why existence even is?
Wonder about
The eternal
Unresolvable
Greatness
& tininess of things?

Authour’s note: a poem for, yesterday, day 28 of a month of poetry 2021. The optional glopowrino prompt was to write a poem of questions. I like to play with this concept of wonderlust.

Exhortations

Exhorting against
What doesn’t
Make sense

Somersaults
Summertime

Turning over
Being

Over & over

Vertigo
Epiphanies

Senses
Enable
Fates

Ten things
Which didn’t
Happen

Ten things
Which did

Cartwheels
Trampolines
Fun between
Turmoil

Sombre enablings
Between sunny
Possibilities

Life meets
Itself
Under shine
& starry
Nights

Exhortations
Television
Realizations

I don’t
Belong
To anyone

& that’s how
I like it

Another near death experience

Cn: implied ipv (intimate partner violence). Not explicit or graphic. Discursive.

When love

Is experienced

As abandonment

By violence

Or otherwise…

Because violence

Is also abandonment

Of a kind

& paradoxically

Control is

Also abandonment

The abandonment

Of a loved one’s

True & whole self

Underneath veneers

Of prescience

Possibility

A tree grows

In place of

Accountability

The tree a connection

To reality

Branches reaching

In naked vulnerability

Through winter storm

Clothed coming around

In summer’s leafy

Adornments

How […]

Another near death experience

We feel it

What if though
What if
What

The signals
Don’t lie
The lies
Come from
Pi

All the way around
All the way
All the
All

The many ways
We could
Have loved

We won’t talk
About that
Because that’s
What that
Does

The confusion
Of so many
Things in
These times
Which don’t
Make sense

Sometimes
We have
All the
Understanding
We need

Often
It’s just
Like this

& all I
Have to
Say
About it

Is written
In the
Tears I
Cry
Listening
To stories

Inside
These days
There isn’t
Any certainty

Even though
It is the
Best place
To be

Oh the flights
Up & down
& around

How I wish
We had the
Capacity to
Take it
All in

Take in
Everything

& we do
We just
Don’t think
It all

Instead
We feel it

Writing & rewriting

I have written it out

In so many ways now

& still I don’t know

If I’ve gotten to

The essence of it

Or if that’s even possible

In this universe

So I keep writing about it

Keep re-writing about it

As things come to me

I realize that

We were we

& that while

There are so many

Tears to cry

About us

I wouldn’t be who
