We are ghosts

Two audio recordings of me reading We are ghosts:

We are ghosts
& certainly
To each other

I felt it today
Especially
While reading
Your words

It’s like at one
Point all
We wanted
Was to be
Together
&
Forever

& then
I guess
You didn’t
Want that
Anymore

I wanted you
To feel meaning
Not for you
To trap
& then
Release me

I wonder really
What you’re trying
To tell me

I know you
Struggle
A lot
With
Being

I promise

You though

You’ll find life
When you accept
Ghostness

I have become
A ghost
Many times
Over &
Now I’m made
Of æther

Fully & completely

I am a ghost
I have been so
For so long now

Maybe one
Day you’ll
Know me
Really
But I no
Longer
Cross my
Fingers

& that’s
For obvious
Reasons

The ghosts of us

Hopelessness
Lost now
Away

Searching

Somewhere
Nowhere
Somewhere

What returns
Is a resignation

But it hopes still
This state
Of acceptance
Never too much
Elation

Except towards
Writings from
The skies
Stars

Ghosts have gone
Already to the sky
& ghosts live
Among us too

Soap operas
Perhaps as real
As the stories
The ghosts of us
Can tell

Elevator

There are

Things

You can’t

Talk about

He tried to

Get in the

Elevator

With you

& you

Pressed

All the

Buttons

1 2 3 4

Basement

This was

The kind

Of building

You died

In

Radio radio

Headphones

Internet

Television

Crossing

Arm blocking

Pressing

Buttons

All the buttons

On the button

Panel

He steps back

At least

There’s that

Task done

Back to

Safety

Relatively

The ghosts

In this house

They could

Tell you…

This house

This house

Empty now

Once filled

With this

Life

Now memories

Things still strewn Around

A stereo

A toaster

Wind blowing

Old crackling

Papers

There’s

A bookshelf

Of crystal

Creatures

A lavendar

Sofa

Still here

I stay solo

A ghost &

One brisk

Cold day

I venture

Out to haunt

The town

For all

The […]

Fairies & phantoms

~○~

In the quiet

Of a

Still

Solitary

Moment

You think

About

Movement

Anyway

Because

This is how

Stillness

Evades

Consciousness

~○~

Always things to do

That’s what quiet says

~○~

Fairies & phantoms

Play in

The gardens

Of possibility

~○~

Procrastion spring

Before

Dream nights

Of midsummer

~○~

Waiting for

The moment

Breath taken

~○~

Moving summer

Stories

Fantastical

Things &

Really real

Things

~○~

Where ghosts

Play &

Fairies sing

On clouds

This is

The life

We try

Being in

~○~

Here where

Stories come

To life

Animated

We live by

Our scribes

Stillness

Becomes

Movement

Comes to life

~○~

Those there

Have done

The house

Knows

the stories

&

It sends me

On my way

When I return

From

My poltergeist

Life

At the end

Of the day

Vapour tea

&

Ghost toast

Await me

&

Me & this house

We continue on

Living after

Our secrets

Gone

We

Still

Together

In transparency

An eventful

Monday

The ghost

That I am

I greet you

In transparency

Typing out

A story

Which begins

On you & ends

On a Wednesday

On you

Eventful Monday

I learned about

The holiday

The deception

To the cauldron

It took 2 days

To finish

What you’d

Begun

& on

A new

Moon’s day

I weigh

The way

I feel

& I say

Thank you

Eventful

Monday

For in

Your quotient

Your potion

All was known

By Friday

A/void: revised

Photos by Samphan Korwong from Pexels

We are like ghosts

Churning ourselves out

Instead of to butter

To vapour

Holding to our

Telephones

For life

Here we live

Sending ourselves

Machines

Our houses

From robots

Androids

Time cards

A\void

Work goes

Tick tock

Nothing stops

& we don’t want it to

For the time is now

Resting

To persist

To resist

Singing

Signals

Singularly

Heart sent

Love

React

Meant

Messages to avoid the void

Messengers to upload the void

The universe fills itself with itself

& so we are reborn
