I am sad 5: upon a full moon

Energy of
Full moon
Upon us
This beautiful
Glowing
Moon
Living wonderfully
Near us

& I am in sadness

It is not despair
However that is
But grief
I feel
& that needs
To be

Felt
I embrace
You sadness
If I had to describe
How you appear
To me…

You are not
In the form
Of some
Grim Reaper

No you
Are flowers
Leaves
& storms
The magic of cats
& things reborn

You are the
Sparkling night
Iridescent clouds
On a sunsetting
Skyline

You are the morning

The mourning
For friends
& comrades lost

You are also
Trees
Pink & yellow birds

The sky as dusk sets

In all of this
I see for myself
That while sadness
Breathes inside of me
Life breathes life
Into life
Perpetually

Of forgiveness

There is no
Reason to
Forgive
Those who
Have caused
You harm

How you feel
Is how you feel

We’re often told
That to be good
Or get over
Things
We have to
Stop being sad
& angry about them

However
That’s just not true
How you process
Your emotions
Is up to you

The only other
Thing to consider
Is to not hurt
Others ever
As much as
Possible
& work every day
On being better

Giving forgiveness
Where it’s not warranted
Could even result
In something detrimental

Maybe you need
Something very different
Like to process that hurt
In a full spectrum

Self-care they say
You do you
To say it again
Do it your own way

Authour’s note: this is inspired by survivor stories & kind of an ode to the myriad ways people process trauma.

Cheekiness

Your cheek

I always loved

Your cheeks

So much

Because

They

Reminded

Me of

Our jokes

~○~

I tell them to

Myself

Sometimes

& laugh

As if

You were

There

~○~

Your face

As time goes on

Of you

Impressions

Remain

It took

A long time

To learn

To live

In

Laughter

Not in pain

~○~

Yet now

Of your

Cheekiness

Stay many

Mains

~○~

The gift

Of humour

Returns

Again

& again

The orbit of things

Things turn

Themselves

In orbit

We turn

Around

Ourselves

Ellipses

Equinox

Circles

Lines

Of passing

Time

All

That we are

Leaves us

& stays

As we make our

Way around

Stars we are

The way

Things go

The orbit

Of everything

Orbiting

Everything

Gravity

Pulls

At the

Substance

Of things

Pushing

& pulling

At this

Bone

Machine

Pulling

Itself up

For

Another

Day

Weather

Weather

Oh Jupiter

Maybe

More the

Mood of

The day

Storms

Of things

So

Far away

Bodies

Expanding

Contracting

In the

Midst

Of

Space

In words

~ ○ ~

Celestine

Celestial

Equestrian

Gesture

A treasure

For the measure

What you sent

Not meant

Yet bent

We went

~ ○ ~

A moment

Of clear

No fear

Our eyes know something more

From here

In warm air

Not a minute

To spare

We take

A moment

To love there […]

In words

An unwanted affiance

It shouldn’t have

Made you

So angry

That when you

Didn’t give

Her a choice

She didn’t

Know how

To please you

Or even understand

What you wanted

Confusion & fear

Are very powerful

Weapons of control

We know that

So she fell

Apart

& you hated

Every moment

But you made it like that

An unwanted affiance

Didn’t you know

She wasn’t made to

Be beholden

She wasn’t for that

Today

Today

I feel

A lot

Of things

Too many

To say

Here

I write it

Anyway

~○~

Dreams

Of future

& thoughts

Of now

Grief

Is not

A line

We know

~○~

Feeling is

Marked in time

~○~

Not a day goes by

Where to be

Or to not be

Isn’t a question

~○~

Oh survival

Our opinion is

You’re a

Temporary

&

Welcome

Guest

Each day

We go to make

& to re-make

Ourselves

This house

This house

Empty now

Once filled

With this

Life

Now memories

Things still strewn

Around

A stereo

A toaster

Wind blowing

Old crackling

Papers

There’s

A bookshelf

Of crystal

Creatures

A lavendar

Sofa

Still here

I stay solo

A ghost

&

One brisk

Cold day

I venture

Out to haunt

The town

For all

The wrong

Those there

Have done

The house

Knows

the stories

&

It sends me

On my way

When I return

From

My poltergeist

Life

At the end

Of the day

Vapour tea

&

Ghost toast

Await me

&

Me & this house

We continue on

Living after

Our secrets

Gone

We

Still

Together
