Treasure

You are what you eat
You’ll become digested
Well love it isn’t felt
No love is tested
~ Tom Smith

Anarchy
Allegory

About

Authority

Treasure
Treasure

Pendulum
Don’t you
Just ignore
It

No
This isn’t
Going to
Be going
Anywhere

The condition
Of the flowers
The air sings
Songs about it

Those winds
Speak words

You eat your cake
& have it too
Don’t you?

Motocar
Motorcar
Locomotive

Racing
Down
The
Speedway

Over &
Over
You
Played
Her

& then
You penned
A poem
About it

As if fiction
Could solve it

Sometimes it does
Doesn’t it?

You digest the prize
Of the æons of tries
They always
Told you
What you were

They were wrong
Weren’t they?
Yes they were wrong
They were
They were

Authour’s note: This is another poem for day 17 of glopowrimo using the Word of the Day Challenge prompt ‘digest’.

Equivalent to me to an ekphrasis, but about the song Like Treasure by Editors. The beginning part refers to the song. As the piece goes along, it tells a story kind of interpreted from the lyrics, but it’s own thing. A composite version of an ekphrasis about music.

I’ve been trying to write an ekphrastic poem forever, but I’m kind of working on some things about visual art pieces in the back of my mind.

In the meantime, I thought I’d go with Tom Smith’s allegory & kind of do a practice using music.

By far my favourite version of this song is one he recently recorded for his instagram. You can watch it here. I hope you enjoy the song & my poem. 💜🎶🌙🌷🌿

Forming

Placing value
Forming
Into
A way to
Do things

All the sky has
To offer
I take it in
The stars, moons
Planets & twinkling

Into my eyes
Small & big
Everything

Gorgeous
Undertakings
Hidden in
Problematic
Intentions

Hoping
Is more
Of a thing
Than I
Can handle
Anymore

Portions of
Possibilities
Of options
& happenings

You sold everything
You said it was for me
I asked you not to
Because I knew you
Didn’t mean it
I didn’t want to be controlled
That way anyway

Really

Really I am realistic
Anarchy is order
We must never mistake
Stellar ideology
For clueless
Vulnerability

The bare trees
Sketch
The air
When leaves come
They paint
Direction
On our breath

The wind

Fire of the sun
In you
In me
Still I think I was
Too real

For you

I’d rather be real
Than be nothing at all

Fairy tales
Are for
Stories

Maybe you
Read mine
& believed
I didn’t have
A body
At all

Ethereal dreams
Are beautiful
Tangible me
Inside
& outside
Of the turning
Moon
I sing &
No one hears

With tears
& secret songs
Embodied
Rain sounds
Come again

Stars so far away
We still believe (in)
& love them

Equestrian

Gesture

A treasure

For the measure

What you sent

Not meant

Yet bent

We went

~ ○ ~

A moment

Of clear

No fear

Our eyes know

Something more

From here

In warm air

Not a minute

To spare

We take

A moment

To love there

~ ○ ~

Oh love

Why

Come off

Of flight

Couldn’t we be

Up & down

In our plight

We will be

You said

We have

The night

Sounds

On clouds

Violet

Fantasy

Splendouring in

What was to be

Melancholy

On a backdrop

Of all possibility

With the sky

Never bored

How could

You be

While taking

A chance

On anarchy

Where is your anarchy?

Good morning from here dear blogosphere. 💜 Resharing this new work. I’m very pleased with how it turned out. Wherever you enjoy it from, I hope this song finds you poetical. 💜

Is it

For you

To decide

What I am

For you to

Assign me

An ancient

Rhyme

I don’t read

Old stories

For truth

My book

Is the new

~☆~

I’m not made

To hold you

While

You

Drop

Me

What did you

Expect of me

While I was […]

Where is your anarchy?

~☆~

I’m not made

Me

What did you

Expect

of me

While

I was

Falling

~☆~

Even

Falling

Uneven

I tried

To save us

From demise

A reprieve

A reprise

You

Would

Never

See

This fallacy

Ending

The entirety

Of

Something

Which

Wanted

To live

&

Be great

To give

&

To create

~☆~

You would

Not see

Not we

Nor the

Essence

Of me

The all

The intertext

The subtext

The context

Your

Pretext

Governing

Now

Where is

Your anarchy

~☆~

You made me

Jump towards

Nothing

Then

Blamed me

For falling

You couldn’t see

How you hurt me

While

Holding

To

Air

To

Your wall

I call

You

Allow

Me

You

Let

Me

&

I

Fall

&

I

Fall

My body

Broken to some

To me

It’s my whole

& only beautiful place

Within this universe

In such vast existence

Biodiversity

Need be

Cherished

Why should bodies

Be hiding

Behind norms

Which

Distill

Disdain

Human

Experience

Disdain

Disability

We exist

We are made

We are told

We choose

We survive

We are here

We know

Who we are

Disability

Is not wrong

That is all

Love which sews you

Ultimately
Is nothingness
A whole world of unreality
