Beginnings

Wisps of clouds
Float on the sky
Peach sunset
Dusk spring air
Warming
Cool collides

With all senses
Remembering
Beginnings

Our beginnings
Tender & caring
Soft soothing
Words in the midst
Of loss

Cards dealt
As contradictory
As the circumstance

Every day
I try & forget
What’s gone
Embrace
Love & chance

Absurd as
Whims of
Evening winds
Somehow with
Confusion
We know
Things

Of love & things endured

The things
I endured
To love you

& then when
Life took
Its momentous
Directions
I had to
Become more
For myself
To survive

For you
I needed to
Love everyone
& you
As much
As I could

& accept
That that
Was all
I could do

If you
Could have
Understood
That I had
Nothing
Left in me

But I did
What was expected
Of me anyway

Now I’ve had
The time to
Contemplate
I understand
What we made

I have come
To accept us
In ways
We couldn’t then

I heal in me
What wasn’t possible
For us at that time

After storms

As winter leaves
I remember our
Moonlit walk
Through snow

In ice storm
Sharp cold
Winter night
We would
Embrace the wind
Snowpants
& all

Convincing ourselves
To do an errand
Yet really wanting for
The after of storms

Moon high full
Hopes too
The mystical
City sparkling
In glow

Under haze & stars

Cushion
Of soft snow
Gripping our
Steps with
Crisp sounds

Making our way
Around

The inclement
Aspect lost
On us
In our moonlit
Walk

Being now
With waning winter
As it wanders away
I think of our day
As if one hibernal season
Is just as another

A gelid memory
Of the warmth
We had made

When we could
In the beauty
Of the harshest
Of weather days

Go

The tidy ways
We present our messes
The ways we try &
Perfect ourselves
Letting go
We hold on
To things

Edify

I remember
Things about
You well
Your skin
Your face
When you
Laughed

Your serious
Explanations
About the dangers
& sorrows
Of life

Your aesthetic
Inclinations
Especially the
Ones you kept
Hidden
For fear
Your art wouldn’t
Be appreciated

But I was there
& I saw what
You were
What you could paint
what you could make

& I believed you
That creating
Was an essential
Thing for you
For everyone

You edified me
With your ways

The art you hid
Always present
Anyway
As the magic
In your eyes

Everywhere

When you loved me
I thought
This is everything
& it was

Everything

Even though in
The thereafter
I was broken

However
Nothing
Can be completely
Undone

As heartbreak
Travels through me
Time & again
I learn to remember
Who I am

Recognizing
That somehow
Even when it’s
Hard to feel
Love is

All around
Everywhere

Being

Of certainty

I can give up
So many times
That even when
I’m not doing so
I’m not sure about

Anything
Anymore

Certainty
Is just a
Passing
Sentiment
Always
Anyway

Anyway we’re here
& it’s all that matters
In this minute

& today

Authour’s note: poem 9 for a month of poetry. I’m going with existential themes because they fit my mood. I’ll probably do some whimsical pieces too. Today I’m pensive.

Epiphany

On Friday
She died

On Saturday
She turned
With the rings
Of planets
& she danced
With the stars

Revolutions

& on Sunday
She waited
Again & again

On Monday
She was
Completely
Reborn
To them

On Tuesday
Anticipation
Waned
In the wind

On Wednesday
The midweek
Proclaimed
Itself

On Thursday
An epiphany
An epigram
Sent

On Friday
A reply
A repeat
A precision
A recognition

A new beginning
& then an end

Authour’s note: poem 8 for a month of poetry. This piece is about cycles & time & realizations & dreaming unreality while living in complicated & beautiful reality. Resurrection.

The ghosts of us

Hopelessness
Lost now
Away

Searching

Somewhere
Nowhere
Somewhere

What returns
Is a resignation

But it hopes still
This state
Of acceptance
Never too much
Elation

Except towards
Writings from
The skies
Stars

Ghosts have gone
Already to the sky
& ghosts live
Among us too

Soap operas
Perhaps as real
As the stories
The ghosts of us
Can tell

Daylight

Rest comes
When sometimes
Not chosen
Unknown
Notification

Tall days
Sun high
Days

I haven’t yet
Recovered from
The time change

The extra
Sunlight
Is nice

What else is
There to say

I’m glad it’s
A holiday
Because I
Want to sleep
All day

Migraine
Migraine
Go away
Do not
Return
Another
Day

Imagination
Please
Provide
Reprieve
From this

Way down
Inside the
Earth
Is where
The answers
Lay

We can’t get
To everything
Tired or not
This life is
One of questions

& the games
We play

Authour’s notes: Well I’m going to include a bit about how I’m feeling as I go through this month of writing.

I have a migraine today. So I decided I’d write about it in it & season change in this, my 6th poem, for the month thus far.
