To the stars & back

You & I are
Everything
On this side
Everywhere

On the other side
Hearts
Outside
Hearts
Making our
Way
On a frozen path
We did as much
Of our lists
As we could
Get through

Together
& alone
& together
Again

You know this city
This magical city is in
Our dreams
On the other side
Of so many things

We had
Thirteen
Years

In dreams
We had more

I wish
I could play
You that song
About the city

I think about
How I think
You’d love it

It goes
Sweetly
You know like
How you like
A melody

Harmony
Harmony
Discord
Cacophony

You & me

I’m glad I got
To see you
& the cat
Listening
To Heavy
Metal on
The radio

The little grey familiar cat
Curled around the
Way high up speaker

Always surprising us
With perpetual cuteness

She kept us
Together
So little but
You know how
Cats are

You showed
Her all the
Trinkets
& sparkles
On each shelf

She loved it

When you
Broke my heart
You broke hers too

Here I sit in
The comforting
Darkness &
I feel what
I did then

In a way

We lived
We did

With a love
Which
Surpassed
Even us

We went
Up to
The stars
& back

We took
The cat
With us

Authour’s note: a poem for day 23 of a month of poetry 2021.

The glopowrimo prompt today was to use a poem as a springpoint. I used a song: You & I Are A Gang of Losers by the Dears. Lyric credit to Murray A. Lightburn.

Please go read the poems  through the days on the glopowrimo site. There are lots of great poets & work. & please sign up for disqus (go here: https://disqus.com/ or you’ll see icons above each day’s comments) & upvote the poems you like. It’s a great way to support poetry month participants & to let us know what’s working with our poems as well as our responses to the prompts. 💜🎶🖋🌸🌷💌
