Bird song: revised

Photo by Elizabeth Tr. Armstrong from Pexels

The birds they make reliable

Their relentless sounds

On these lives

That they have found

On a wire long

Over the hills,

Cities renew,

Over the buildings,

Infinite views

The songs you wrote

This is the news

You wrote to tell

You were the muse

When the birds

Heard you sing them

The songs you wrote

Each vivid poem

They would sing

A mournful tune

They knew those songs

They weren’t for you

Questions on

The air abound

On a crest

Of waves resound

Where will you go

Without your sound

If your song it cannot leave

If your song you cannot leave

Will it reprise

Is there reprieve

Will we fly into the sky

To leave this place together

Taking with us all that silence

Never and forever
