Bird Song

The birds they make reliable

Their relentless sounds

On these lives

That they have found

On a wire long

Over the hills,

Cities renew,

Over the buildings,

In finite views

The songs you wrote

This is the news

You wrote to tell

You were the muse

When the birds heard you singing them

The songs you wrote, Each vivid poem

They would sing a mournful tune

They knew those songs

They weren’t for you

Questions on the air they pound

On the crest of waves resound

Where will you go

Without your sound

If your song it cannot leave

If your song you cannot leave

Will it reprise

Is there reprieve

Will we fly into the sky

To leave this place together

Taking with us all that silence

Never and forever

This was me trying things as my poetry tends to be less structured. I wanted to work with rhythm & rhyme. I often have ideas for songs in my head, however I am exceptionally meandering…so I opt to write.

I think I often take my poetry there. But I’m trying to work more in fiction with my own meandering style. Also wanting to bring stories into my poetry. Kind of an exchange between genres within my own creative writing.
